| While visiting one of her daughters on the west cost, Janet Habansky had the opportunity to attend a First Friday Art Walk. This unique experience sparked an idea. She realized that Black Rock, historically known for its artistic community, would be a perfect match for a First Friday Art Walk of it's own. In 2004, Janet organized the first First Friday season, taking place along Fairfield Avenue in the Black Rock Entertainment District. Since then First Friday's have grown in popularity with an outpouring of new artists and patrons. Art Walk brings together vendors from the Fairfield County Area and beyond. From photos to paintings to jewelry, there is a wide collection of various media that is made by each exhibitor. Now in it's 4th season, the Art Walk Board decided it was time the event was brought to the next level. With the launch of a website and a new name, the Art Walk is bringing the arts back to Bridgeport. Art Walks will take place on the first and third Friday's of the month. In the likelihood of rain, Art Walk will take shelter in the Art Center. We anticipate another great season and look forward to seeing you along the sidewalks of Fairfield Avenue. |
